What is the difference between LCD and DLP projectors?

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) projectors contain three separate LCD glass panels for the red, green, and blue components of video signal, respectively. As red, green, and blue light filters through the respective LCD panels, the liquid crystals in each panel open and close based on how much of each color is needed, thus modulating the light and creating the image projected on your screen. DLP (Digital Light Processing) is a proprietary technology developed by Texas Instruments. Projectors with DLP technology feature thousands of tiny mirrors, each representing a pixel. The mirrors tilt back and forth depending on the color, thus modulating the light and creating the image projected on your screen.
